Shimogamo Shrine, which is a World Heritage site, has a shrine that is considered a holy site for rugby players.
Rugby was first introduced to Japan in 1899 by an English teacher named Clark and a Japanese student who had returned from studying abroad, Ginnosuke Tanaka.
The prayer for the success of the Rugby World Cup 2019, which was held in Japan, was also conducted here.
